Simple care routines to protect your investment and maintain that showroom finish for years to come.

How to Care for Your Products

Each of our products has specific care requirements to ensure longevity and performance. Select your product below for tailored guidance.

Light Maintenance
  • Light dusting: Wipe with a microfiber cloth or duster
  • Vacuum (low suction): Use a soft brush attachment for textured fabrics
  • Spot check: Catch marks early before they set into the fabric.  Use a damp soft cloth to blot out any marks.
  • Smooth operation: Avoid jerking chains or forcing motorized shades while cleaning
For Deeper Cleans:
  • Spot clean only (most fabrics): Mild soap + lukewarm water, dab gently
  • Keep it controlled: Fully lower the shade and clean in sections
  • No soaking: Excess water can damage coatings and cause rippling
  • Avoid harsh chemicals: Especially on textured fabrics
What to Avoid:
Light Maintenance
  • Dust regularly: Microfiber cloth or duster
  • Wipe down: Lightly damp cloth for fingerprints or buildup (dry straight after)
  • Clean with louvers open: Makes it easier to access both sides
  • Operate with care: Use the tilt rod or blade edge—avoid forcing movement
For Deeper Cleans:
  • Mild soap solution: For more stubborn marks—apply lightly and wipe clean
  • Detail areas: Use a soft brush or cloth for corners and hinges
  • Moisture-prone areas: Kitchens/bathrooms may need more frequent wipe-downs
What to Avoid:
Light Maintenance
  • Regular dusting: Use a vacuum with a soft brush attachment
  • Shake them out: A quick shake helps release surface dust (especially helpful for lighter fabrics)
  • Lint roller: Great for pet hair or visible debris between cleans
For Deeper Cleans:
  • Dry clean (most common): Especially for lined, pleated, or structured drapery
  • Steam cleaning: A safe in-place option for refreshing and removing light wrinkles
  • Spot clean: Use mild detergent and test in an inconspicuous area first
What to Avoid:
Light Maintenance
  • Light rinse or dust off: Remove dirt, pollen, and debris regularly
  • Let shades dry fully: Before rolling back up to prevent mildew
  • Operate smoothly: Avoid forcing manual systems or repeatedly stopping/starting motors
  • Retract in harsh weather: Always raise shades up during wind or storms
For Deeper Cleans:
  • Mild soap + water: Gently clean fabric with a soft sponge or cloth
  • Clean in sections: Lower fully and work evenly across the surface
  • Tracks & channels (Zipscreen/cable): Clear debris to maintain smooth travel
  • Rinse thoroughly: Prevent soap residue from attracting more dirt
What to Avoid:
Light Maintenance
  • Rinse periodically: A light hose-down removes dust, pollen, and debris
  • Wipe as needed: Use a soft cloth or sponge for visible buildup
  • Clean with louvers open: Ensures both sides are cleared of dirt
  • Operate regularly: Opening/closing keeps components moving freely
  • Clear Tracks of debris: For seamless movement of the panels in the tracks
For Deeper Cleans:
  • Mild soap + water: Gently wash and rinse thoroughly
  • Salt removal (coastal): Clean more frequently to prevent corrosion buildup
  • Detail hardware: Use a soft brush around hinges, tracks, and frames
  • Dry off excess water: Helps prevent spotting, especially on darker finishes

Keep Them Looking Like New

Follow these simple habits to maximise the lifespan of your investment.

Dust weekly, don’t wait

Frequent light dusting is far easier than removing built-up grime. A quick wipe takes 30 seconds per panel.

Use the right cloth

Always use a soft microfibre cloth — never abrasive sponges or paper towels which can scratch surfaces.

Dry before closing

If any moisture gets on your products, ensure they’re fully dry before closing or rolling up to prevent mould or warping

Annual professional service

Consider a professional clean and inspection every 2 years to keep mechanisms smooth and catch issues early.

Product Care FAQs

Can I use a steam cleaner on my shutters?

No—steam cleaning should never be used on interior shutters. The high heat and moisture can cause permanent damage, including warping, cracking, and deterioration of the finish and internal components. For proper care, stick to regular dusting with a microfiber cloth and, when needed, a lightly damp cloth followed by immediate drying.

For light mold or mildew, gently spot clean using a mild soap and lukewarm water solution. Dab the affected area—do not scrub—and allow the shade to fully air dry before rolling it back up. Avoid harsh chemicals or soaking the fabric, as this can damage coatings and affect performance.

Stiff louvers are often caused by dust buildup or minor alignment changes. Start by cleaning around the louvers and tilt mechanism with a dry cloth. If needed, check that panels are properly aligned and hinges are secure. Avoid forcing movement—if resistance continues, it’s best to have it inspected.

We recommend a light clean or rinse every month to remove dust, pollen, and debris—more frequently in coastal or high-exposure areas. A deeper clean with mild soap and water can be done every 3–6 months. Always allow shades to fully dry before retracting.

Yes—replacement parts are available for most systems, including components for shutters, shades, and hardware. We recommend reaching out with your order details or product information so the correct parts can be identified quickly and ensure a proper fit.
